Having just discovered your blog today, I agree wholeheartedly with your comments and have been heartened with the recent level of interest from the SAP community in finding better ways to manage ALM components such as hardware/software dependencies, impact analysis and environment protection.

However, IT change teams are struggling to find ways to implement the methodologies, ensure they are followed and then be certain the methodologies are repeatable and documented. Their current hybrid of native SAP tools, manual systems and proceses and own home grown systems are straining to keep up with best practice change requirements.

My experience is specifically with organisations running SAP Solutions and have seen first hand how SAP have not made it easy by introducing over the last few years dependent multiple applications and now depependent dual-stack and single-stack technologies within and accross the applications. Not easily managed without some kind of technology.

As an SAP Change Control Technology Vendor executive I am seeing a significant increase in interest from SAP user organisations in change control technologies for the same reasons.

Keep up the good work.
